IDZ
An initiative challenging far-right extremism and hate speech by sharing fact sheets on social media.
An information based campaign addressing the negative stereotyping of Muslim communities.
Hosted by the Violence Prevention Network, this website aims to provide accurate information on Islam to help deconstruct the negative stereotypes and narratives prevalent in society following the rise of groups like ISIS. The website has sections on Islam and diversity, Islam and leisure, Islam and dialogue, as well as Islamic festivals and events. The information is presented in Q&A formats to help encourage debate and provide clear answers to questions about day-to-day life as a Muslim. There are also a series of explanatory videos on Islamic terms and sections of the Qur’an, as well as two “portraits” that help to humanise the Muslim community and promote social cohesion. The Violence Prevention Network also encourages curious individuals to contact them to get more information or to ask questions that are not currently answered on the website.
